Dr. Rosemary Uzzo (center) delivered 500 masks to the 3rd precinct and 16,000 masks to Governor Cuomo’s warehouse in Albany.
As a result of teaching in China on and off since 2010, Dr. Uzzo’s colleague, Tina Chen, Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai put her in touch with her student, Jackie Ni, a Sage Hill High School Senior in Irvine, California. He developed a website that offers a more transparent and efficient way for individuals and organizations to make donations. The mission of his site, supplycrate.org, is to “combat COVID-19, one crate at a time.”
Coping with Covid-19
For sure we are going through the most frightening time of our lives. We know about physical health: frequent hand washing and social distancing but what about our mental health?
More than at any other time in the history of this country it is crucial that we remember we are ONE American family. Our leaders were all elected by us and we must trust them and the self-governing system WE created.
We must believe they are working together, doing their best to protect us and to get us through this crisis.
For now we will have to adapt to a new way of living until this blows over. Needless to say, we have to cancel ALL in-person meetings this spring, including our Nurse Appreciation and Awards Dinner. We will be using the Zoom platform to meet online.
The important thing is to remain positive and stay connected. What won’t kill us will surely make us stronger as individuals, as communities and as a nation. We will get through this!
Today, we're talking with two former Key Club International members who became first responders in their community — roles that have allowed them to expand their Kiwanis service. Keep a lookout for the March issue of Kiwanis magazine, which will feature more heroes from the frontlines of COVID-19. ... See MoreSee Less
Today, we're hearing from two Key Club alumni who have been working the COVID-19 pandemic front lines as first responders. Know of any other Kiwanis members who are first responders, teachers, or other essential workers? Give them a shoutout for all their hard work in the comments!
